Practicing Philosophy

The essence of Yoga is to merge consciously with the self. In Ashtanga & Hatha Yoga we learn to release the physical and experience the subtlety of our being.  We begin to experience the rejuvenation, health, and vitality that radiates as a result of a regular practice. The "asanas" or physical poses are practiced to open subtle energy channels that become blocked in our internal bodies. By placing the body in correct alignment, "prana" or lifeforce energy, surges through the body creating a flow of "shakti" or radiant energy.  We also begin to stretch, strengthen, and balance our bodies. The classes are designed to focus on a set of postures accentuating benefits for a specific area of the body. Pranayama or breathing techniques are used to relax, purify, warm, and invigorate the mind and body throughout the practice. Adjustments and assists will be provided by the instructor to place the student in proper alignment, and to gently deepen the stretch allowing students to sink deeper into their breath and enjoyment of the posture.  All levels of the practitioners are welcome and encouraged to listen to their own needs. With the guidance of the teacher the student may delve deeper into their own practice attaining  benefits from holding the poses and focusing on their breath.

- Correcting malfunctions in the glands, enrich blood circulation, tones the endocrine glands that have an important role in preserving the harmonious functioning of the body. These include the pineal, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenals, and gonads. These glands secrete the necessary hormones, giving both physical and psychological benefits. These glands are stimulated not only by physical movements, but by thoughts as well
